In Short: The OKI C6100n is a faster and more robust version of the C6000n. The OKI C6100n is designed to compete in the small/ home office color laser printer space though it is currently priced more like a business class model. The single-pass engine design can print up to 26 color pages per minute and up to 32 in black & white. The printer setup took a bit longer than most due to the four individual drums that must be installed along with the four different toners but OKI includes excellent documentation to guide you. The software setup went much faster due to the advanced and intuitive installer provided by OKI. The OKI C6100n produced very good output from all tested applications at it’s best printing mode, (1200 x 600 dpi). The C6100n has a 300-sheet feeder and a 100-sheet MP tray to handle heavier stock or envelopes. A 530 sheet optional 2nd feeder and auto-duplex unit are also available. Also there is an optional 40 GB Hard disk drive that allows you to do Encrypted Secure Printing and Job Accounting. The OKI C6100n is designed to work in almost any environment like MAC OS, Windows, or most any other OS. The base model has USB and 10/100Base T Ethernet interfaces, PCL6, and PostScript3 emulations. The C6100dn is bundled with auto-duplex and the C6100tn includes a second paper feeder. The C6100hdn includes auto-duplex and internal 40GB HD. These models come with a 1-Year Overnight Exchange Warranty. The warranty can be upgraded and or extended with its optional warranty extensions.
The Bottom Line: The OKI C6100n is fast and has above average print quality, especially if you like the glossy sheen. The C6100n works well in any low volume application and with any current operating system including Mac OS. For higher printing volume applications we would recommend stepping up to the business class models for lower operating costs and on-site service. Like most current printers, the C6100s ship with starter toners that have a much shorter life than the replacements.
